Big Sur Bound

original map found here
Today is the day! I'm headed to Big Sur, one of my favorite places on earth, with four of my closest friends. Doesn't get much better than this, in my opinion. This quote has been echoing in my head the past few days, very fitting for this trip:

"A life without adventure is likely to be unsatisfying"

Daily Dose of a Massive Art Party

The Seshen

I've been to some extravagant art parties before but none were as large, or generously funded, as the one I went to last week at Club Six in San Francisco. When I walked in the door I truly had to stand for a moment and take it all in. There were tables topped with paint cans, walls covered in canvas and extremely happy people all around me. The dj was playing remixes of Little Dragon and in the adjacent "Dark Room"  J's cousins band, The Seshen, was playing a live set. This was one of those moments when I knew I was in the right place and was so grateful. Did I mention the entire event was free!!!

The Seshen is absolutely amazing and you can listen to their entire album here. Thank me later.

I'm in a very flowery mood today and these two photos just inspired me to go grab a fresh bouquet.

Monday Morning Day Dream

It's Monday morning and I'm already day dreaming about traveling south to Big Sur this Friday. I'm beyond excited for this girls only trip in which we are planning on doing lots of art projects, hiking in the forests and cooking delicious meals together. Big Sur is one of my favorite places on earth and I'm thrilled to finally share it with some of my best gal's.

I'm in Love, Fashion Love That is

My jaw dropped right when I saw the Pre Fall 2012 collection from MSGM. As stated on their site: it's a Kaleidoscope world made of colors, shapes and lines. I would be completely fine with my closet consisting of only these six outfits. I could make it work. I promise.
saw these beauties while walking around the Mission district and couldn't resist snapping a photo
Happy Friday!!! Although the weather forecast says rain all weekend I'm actually a bit excited about the thought of a relaxing weekend indoors. I'm looking forward to watching a lot of this show {J and I are kinda addicted right now}, going to Yoshi's Jazz Club tonight for the first time and then topping off the weekend with a date here.

A Peek Inside

This is a little peek inside one of my favorite people on earth's bedroom. Kristina is the kind of person that brightens any room or situation that she strolls {or maybe skips} into, so it was no shock when I walked in her bedroom for the first time that her remarkable personality matched her vibrant bedroom. Everywhere you look there is a trinket, or artistic piece, that catches your eye. It's the kind of room you could easily spend hours in, getting lost in conversation and laughing till your stomach hurts.

{for you my dear Kristina}

Feathers and Laughter

photo's by Casey Liu

This quote, from the novel Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close written by Jonathan Safran Foer, completely stopped me in my reading tracks. It was so strong and impactful that I just had to share:

"I asked my schoolmate Mary to write a letter to me. She was funny and full of life. She liked to run around her empty house without any clothes on, even once she was too old for that. Nothing embarrassed her. I admired that so much, because everything embarrassed me, and that hurt me. She loved to jump on her bed. She jumped on her bed for so many years that one afternoon, while I watched her jump, the seams burst. Feathers filled the small room. Our laughter kept the feathers in the air. I thought about birds. Could they fly if there wasn't someone, somewhere, laughing?"

A Wheelabout

You might be asking yourself: What in the world is a Weelabout? Well, I saw one with my own eyes and am thrilled to report that it is a real, brightly colored and eye catching, contraption. It's a mixture of shapes and forms found in nature, but built out of found objects of everyday life {chains, saws, wheels, you know the usual}. The Wheelabout was made by artist Nancy Graves and can be found on display here.

Silver Trees

This was quite a sight to see while visiting the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Look closely and you will notice the two silver trees swaying in the wind.

I hope you have a lovely Monday!

Girl Crush Photos

Danielle from The Jealous Curator, treats from Batter Bakery, vintage tea cups also show here and a brightly painted wall outside one of the galleries we visited.
Heres a mixture of some of my favorite photos {all taken by me} at the Girl Crush Art Workshop and Tea Party last Saturday. The entire event was so inspirational that I couldn't help but reevaluate my life goals when I returned home at the end of the day. I would highly suggest signing up for one of the upcoming classes that are being held in Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, Austin and Philadelphia. Sign up here

Designer Lovin'

Romance Was Born is an Australian based label created by designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales. Needless to say I am in love with everything they touch and their winter 2012 line, pictured above, is absolutely stunning.

Daily Dose of Flower Arrangements

I'm not a huge fan of pink but when it comes to flowers thats a whole different story. Last week I decided to purchase a few different bouquets and create some flower arrangements for my home and this event. One suggestion I have is to use contrasting colored vases that are totally different from the color of the flowers. Also, Peonies are in season right now and truly perfect for any occasion.

My Piano Man

all taken and edited by me
Last month J and I went on a one night staycation to a remarkable home in Lower Pacific Heights. I already spoke of the fantastic back porch {here}, where we spent a great deal of our time, but the baby grand piano in the living room was also a huge highlight. J is extremely musically gifted and his piano skills are marvelous, he turned into my own personal piano man during our stay.

Daily Dose of The Perfect Evening Cocktail

On Fridays an evening cocktail is a must at our house. The fact that we have a bar makes things easy, but it's also become a hobby to craft a perfect cocktail for ourselves and friends. Here is a cocktail {found in one of our cocktail books} called "White Lady.

Legend has it the first White Lady was invented in London in 1919 as a tribute to Mata Hari.

White Lady Recipe:
1 oz Cointreau
2 oz Gin
3/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
-Pour all the contents into a shaker, add ice and shake away the pain from your work week. Be warned... you definitely will want to make more than one.

Art + Tea Filled Weekend

Happy Friday to all! This weekend is going to extra special. I am thrilled to be a part of Girl Crush, a art workshop + tea party, which is taking place tomorrow here in San Francisco. The entire event is inspired by stepping away from your computer, eating delicious pastries and breaking free from creative blocks. How do you not sign up for an event such as this one?!

Your Own Great Day

This morning I woke up with the notion that today is going to be a great day, and I instantly felt the need to share. Yes, there are some aspects of daily life that you have zero control over {like traffic on the freeway or your bus breaking down on the way to work} but for the most part you have the ability to make everyday outstanding for yourself and those around you. I'm no motivational speaker or a perfect person in any way but what if we made a point to go out of our way to make someone else's day memorable. I think you would agree... the world would be a better, happier place. Now, I think a cheerful tune is in order:

Daily Dose of Day Dreaming

Wouldn't this be nice right about now?

A Peek Inside

Daniella got this vintage mirror from her grandmother
little details everywhere you look
a folded lader for displaying her shoes
My extraordinary friend Daniella has unbelievable taste, whether it be her clothing, her favorite Los Angles hang out spots or her outlook on life I adore everything she does. When I finally saw her new apartment a few weeks ago during a trip to LA I immediately fell in love with her bedroom and started snapping photos.

The room is a gorgeous lavender color with a hint of blue, which goes perfectly with the dark wood floors. I have to point out my favorite aspect of the room which is the main focal piece. A vintage gold mirror, from her grandmother, a set drawers that she has had since childhood and uniquely painted knobs for hanging necklaces on.
